Monday Books

Monday, October 24

One day I went to a bookstore wanting to find something amazing to read. Walking through the overwhelming amount of books, I couldn't find anything that caught my attention. So I went to this sales person (lol) and asked for  a recommendation and he showed me The Shadow of the Wind. He describe it, I took it, paid for it and now is one of my favorite books.

Carlos Ruíz Zafón is the author of this book. He is just an AMAZING writer! He is originally from Barcelona, Spain but he lives in Los Angeles, California.  His work has been published in more than forty different languages, and his also been honoured with numerous international awards. I've have read three of he's books: The Shadow of the Wind (like I've already mentioned), The Angel's Game and Marina. I've cried and love them all! His mysterious stories captivate you, Zafon's writing is just inspiring!

In his webpage he has a section that describes the reason why he writes, you can click here to see it! The words that you see below describe exactly how I feel about this book.

“Once, in my father's bookshop, I heard a regular customer say that few things leave a deeper mark on a reader than the first book that finds its way into his heart. Those first images, the echo of words we think we have left behind, accompany us throughout our lives and sculpt a palace in our memory to which, sooner or later—no matter how many books we read, how many worlds we discover, or how much we learn or forget—we will return.”
